Letter from the Director

To everyone,

We made it through another wonderful year here at HSCS and I am very excited about next year.  Though we will all miss the 8th graders, as they move on to bigger and better things in high school, we will continue moving forward, raising the bar, and creating wonderful music and memories.  As I reflect upon this year, all I have to say is that all three bands exceeded my expectations and went well above and beyond what I had visioned at the beginning of the school year.  Every time I  had set a challenge everyone blew it out of the water: Beginners, you performed more times (mostly memorizing music) then any other band and never questioned or complained, Concert Band members, when I told you about having to memorize music you practiced and wowed the school during our final performance and when we lost students in January, you still wanted to participate at MPA and that took a lot of courage, Symphonic Band members, you took on the most challenging music throughout the year and for MPA, knowing the different levels through out the band, and I truely feel that you did a wonderful job, and to everyone else, without your support and time none of this would have been possible and I thank you. I hope that everyone realizes their potential, not only as a musician but as a person, and is also ready to move forward to what next year has to bring.  We are going to continue to move forward and my expectation level is only going to increase.  As for those of you that will not be with us next year, you will always be remembered as being a member of one of our fine HSCS bands.  Enjoy your summer break, because when you return the break will be OVER!!!

Musically yours,

Mr. Montauk
